We are convinced that a strong curriculum is wide, deep, challenging, and varied. It utilizes the variety of aptitudes, gifts, and unique personal learning styles that a child brings into the classroom. It fits the mindset and developmental characteristics of each age group. It includes the richness of literature, mathematics, art, religion, music, sport, drama, science, and all of what we would call culture. It works to educate the whole child.
We are convinced that in every discipline and in every classroom, there is a balance to be achieved between skill and understanding, training and discovery, habit and imagination, standard technique and creative invention. The achievement of such a balance is the challenge that is taken on by every teacher in our school. In practice, our students are pushed beyond the memorization of facts and the acquisition of important content. They are taught to explore what lies beneath the surface enabling them to develop accurate and deep understanding.
